Who is the Ring Leader of this Circus?
Hi there! Kirsty here. In the event that you are interested to know a little about me, I’ve prepared a little taster…
First off: I. Love. Words. Just like accountants & statisticians love numbers, I am lovingly surrounded by words every day. Books are my weakness & poor grammar and spelling mistakes make me shudder.
Long-form copy is my preference BUT I enjoy the challenge of social media (specifically organic posts). I love to try & figure out what captures people’s interest, their eye & their motivation to do things.
My working history is like a tapestry, made up of many different roles in so many different industries. I like to think that it gives me a better understanding of my client’s needs & an ability to showcase their business in a different way.
WHAT IS MARQUEE
SOCIAL MEDIA?
I created MSM in 2017 with the idea of eventually becoming my own boss. Over time I have seen a need for social media assistance for not-for-profit enterprises & community groups.
It’s so important for them to be seen & gain traction to continue the amazing work they do – and there isn’t usually a lot of dollars to spend on this kind of marketing.
I have been working with a number of community groups & small businesses to help them manage their social media circus, showing them it can be fun, providing ideas & some of the shortcuts to not let it be a burden.
It’s fulfilling to work with these groups & companies giving them ideas & taking some of the frustration (& fear!) out of the social media platforms.

Do you prepare resumes & cover letters?
Marquee Social Media offers a number of services including social media management and copywriting, but we don’t prepare resumes & cover letters. We can highly recommend another company that does this, just get in touch to find out more.
Can you set up new social media accounts?
We can definitely assist you with setting up a new account, connect today to get a quote.
Why do I need copywriting?
You may not! If you’re sure you’re going to showcase your business in the best possible way, have all the words to accurately describe your enterprise AND are confident to write it in a way your audience can relate to, then DO NOT HIRE ME.
On the otherhand, if you are unsure of how to let other people know about your company, want to avoid using industry-related (unnecessary) jargon and would like a unique perspective to present your business, then we need to talk.
I have assisted companies to write their capability statements, website content, email newsletters, blog posts, magazine articles, flyers, brochures and, of course, social media posts including those delightful introductions. In my experience, I have found business owners are very good at talking about their companies. They live it, breathe it and are extremely passionate about it – which they should be. However, when it comes to writing about their business in a way that other people can relate to, they get… stuck. Unsure and even a little flustered. That’s where I can help.
How can you help Not-For-profits with their social media?
Community service is very important to me and something I have always been involved with. With technology providing some amazingly cost-effective options for the NFP sector, it would be a shame for them to not take advantage. Most NFPs rely on their awesome volunteers who may have little or no knowledge about managing their social media accounts. That’s where Marquee can assist.
While it may not be economical for NPFs to hire a social media manager, what about empowering, educating and giving your volunteers more skills to effectively manage the accounts? We run workshops to give your volunteers ideas and a how-to which gives them confidence to be online.
Coming soon will be a self-paced online course that gives them the knowledge to do their part and help them manage your NFP social media. This will be accessible any time of the day or night to fit in with their busy schedules.
2ND CHANCE

Having travelled overseas brings an awareness of how well we are living in a country like Australia. However, even in our own backyard, there are people doing it tough.
Growing up I have always had a strong sense of community service. Over the years have been involved with P&C Committees, managed & coached soccer teams and, most recently, been involved with Soroptimist International, a not-for-profit focused on enabling, educating & empowering women.
The beauty of owning your own business is to run it how you see fit & there is a distinct change in how people are wanting to spend their money these days – social enterprise is becoming a huge moment and it’s one I am keen to be a part of.
For every dollar spent with Marquee Social Media, a portion will be donated to a charitable organisation, whether that be via Kiva loans, local not-for-profits or 2nd Chance, our own bespoke program.
WHAT IS 2ND CHANCE
2nd Chance is the opportunity to give a woman a serious leg up to get them back on track. We will be opening nominations for someone you think is deserving of a 2nd chance to have a better life.
The winner will received a customised CV created by KN Writing, a $300 wardrobe voucher & some 1-on-1 coaching to gain the confidence they may have lost to kick start them back into the workforce.
